APLS witness fun filled session
ITANAGAR, Mar 13: It was one of the most stimulating and fun filled session of APLS. With steaming cups of tea flowing freely inside the auditorium of JN Museum, Itanagar, the 22nd monthly sitting of APLS started with the recitation of a heart touching & nostalgic poem titled “Looking back” by Miss Sangita Thapa, a MA (English), student of RGU.
This was followed by another thought provoking Oriya poem, recited by P.K.Mahapatra by the title “Udigala pakshi bhangi dei basa”.
With the session in full swing, Shilpi Dutta, Lecturer English, further enlivened the meeting with the rendering of her poem “Kathpencil, robor”, in Assamese.
Bompi Riba, Assistant Professor, English of RGU brought a different flavor to the session, by the rendition of her short story titled, “The Head is the black sheep”.
All the compositions were self composed and new.

Sahitya Akademi award winner cum Chief Information Commissioner, Tokong Pertin, Director

TAWANG, Mar 13: Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) Chairman Jalley Sonam along with local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Tsewang Dhondup launched an ambulance for registered workers here in presence of Tawang Deputy Commissioner Gamli Padu, APB&OCWWB Secretary cum Commissioner Ojing Darang today.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Dhondup called upon the workers to avail the benefits provided to them by the government by registering themselves with the Board.
Apart from hard labour every worker should develop mental ability to generate innovative ideas which could double their income, he said. He, however, lamented that many workers are harassed by some employers in various work sites by forcing them to work over time at minimal wages.
APB&OCWWB chairman Sonam pitched for better avenues of the workers and urged them to get registered with Board to get the benefit of various schemes.
“I wonder why the workers are reluctant to register their names in labour welfare boards; workers should come forward and get themselves registered with Board to enjoy the facilities” he said.

NSS organize special camp at Toon village
ITANAGAR, Mar 13: The NSS unit of Government College Yachuli conducted a social service
cum mass tree plantation, community awareness meeting on education, health and hygiene

Around 50 NSS volunteers, faculty members and office staff of the College conducted the special camp. The villagers, panchayat leaders and students of Toon Primary School enthusiastically participated in both social service as well as in awareness programme.
Participating in the programme as resource person, Dr. Tana That, a local Medical Officer explained the health scenario and revealed that the diseases like jaundice, malaria are prevalent in this area. Such diseases can be controlled through health consciousness among the people, he added. He also dwelt at length about the danger of HIV & AIDS especially among the growing youths and cautioned them to take all preventive measures as there is no viable treatment so far.
According to him as on today as many as 167 cases of HIV have been detected in the state. In fact this is only a tip of ice barge as negligible population have gone for the test. The cases would be much more if entire population of state gets tested for this disease.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. N.T. Rikam, Principal of the college exhorted the volunteers to imbibe the motto of NSS. Apart from academic achievement one need to acquire proficiency in extra curricular activities also, he said.
While addressing the villagers, he called upon them to go for adopting cash crops instead of traditional agricultural practices. The wanton destruction of forest by burning and felling down the trees are rampant in the areas which need to be stopped. He reminded that Yachuli circle is famous for its scenic beauty and favourable climatic condition. He urged the villagers particularly, the village elders to guard their forest resources and taken to task to those who are indulged in burning the forest and felling of trees. They must go for tree plantation every year to compensate the already destructed areas, he said.
ASM Joram Elyu expressed his gratitude to the college community for organizing such programme in his village which has immensely benefited the villagers and the students. He hoped that the collegebeing an immediate neighbour will always maintained cordial relationship.

He asked the villagers to take maximum services from the volunteers in all respects. ITANAGAR, Mar 13: Business community as well as Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) appealed to the authorities concerned to educate and make the shopkeepers aware about the laws and other provisions of mentioning rates of various items sold by them by organizing meeting, workshop, symposium etc. so that a certain modalities could be worked out to mention every items’ rate separately and as per Govt norms. It is unfair on the part of the Department concerned to harass the ‘innocent’ shopkeepers by imposing heavy fines for not mentioning the rates of every item separately without providing them with proper guideline that as to how and which manner the shopkeepers would mention rates of each item separately, IMWA said in a release, and urged the department concerned and organizations like Arunachal Chamber of Commerce and Industry to look into the matter.
The Department of Legal Metrology has imposed fines on many shopkeepers in and around the Capital Complex recently and seized various items from them on pretext of not mentioning the rates item wise under Standards of Weights and Measures (Enforcement) Act, 1985, creating chaos among the business community, IMWA informed.

Looting Government funds meant for villagers, farmers, ignorants & common public. Siphoning off fund meant for Road, water, electricity,& rural development in state.
Wearing cowboy hat, dark glass, tight jeans, and discussing jingle bell topic.
Shuttling to metropolitan cities and doing business in the name of meeting with party high command by leaving constituency in ravages.
Chasing to fatten their own bank balance and hobnobbing with businessmen and companies agents to meet their selfish end.
Constructing & displaying high-
Riding in flashy latest cars and picnicking around with imported wines leaving common citizen in famine.
Sycophancy system, compromised dealing even at the cost of life & security of common citizen.
Empty promises, big talks, blame game, inaugurating cheap functions & celebrations.Roaming around the globe at the cost of exchequer in the name of state development.
The above are the ten self declared commandments.
Now the time has come for all the corrupt politicians, businessmen, officials of the state to forget of above Ten Commandments which they have been meticulously following so far. They have to come down to the battle ground and save our state.
Now the time has come for every sensible citizens of Arunachal Pradesh irrespective of political parties to rise up and protect the territorial integrity of Tirap & Changlang at any cost to save from enemy interference /occupation in the interest of state.
This is the time to display our courage & patriotism. Otherwise the time is not far off our state is likely to disintegrate into thin air for no reasons.
District Congress Committee appealing to NSCN (K) militant for withdrawing threatening democratically elected legislators are the darkest moment in the history of state.

Make the hay while the bulb shines
Dear Editor,
Number you are trying to reach is currently switched off'' the too often familiar
mechanical response one get from their cell-
Suppose the power supply is uninterrupted say for a week by fluke, come Saturday
the maintenance day, ironically after the so called maintenance works the city will
routinely reel under darkness double the period it enjoyed the luxury of having power
supply again. What reply one get on enquiry is presumably a chain blame game. Technical,
mechanical, human errors or nature's fury are not the only reasons why Pasighat is
facing this perpetual problem of going into darkness regularly, but corruption, nepotism
and favoritism are the major ingredients that breathed life to this virus of departmental
inefficiency and laxity. With these regular power failures one is overdosed with
reminders that dabblers with irresponsible and unprofessional approach are made to
handle one of the most important department, resultantly citizens of the state's
oldest city are hit hard. So folks..! Taking the liberty to tweak a popular proverb,

Response to the Open Letter to Sonia Gandhi
Dear Editor,
The aspersion made by former MLA Takam Sorang, who happened to be a responsible Member of the Legislative Assembly for two consecutive terms is quite unfortunate. Leaders of his statures are expected to be more rationale and sensible before going to public on any issue concerning the interest of the State. The blatant statement made by him shows more of his political and social irresponsibility.
The allegations made by him against the Chief Minister are bizarre and unfounded. It is mischievous to connect the Chief Minister with underground organizations. Arunachal Government has got nothing to do in NSCN issues when the same is being dealt at the Government of India level.
It is the wisdom of Takam Sorang as to how and in what way he interprets the so called letter of the NSCN (K) published in a daily on 7th March, 2011. But it is deceit on his part to allege the Chief Minister of having a nexus with the other rival group i.e. NSCN (IM) on the basis of the said letter of NSCN (K). Being the head of the democratically elected Government, the Chief Minister is mature enough to deal with matters concerning the larger interest of the State as per the laid down procedure instead of making an issue out of nothing. It is more ridiculous than being ethical on his part to say that the present Chief Minister of the State should resign on moral ground over a letter published in a daily threatening the democratic set up in the State, the very authenticity of which is still shrouded in mystery.
Takam Sorang is a part and parcel of the vested political game, who being in the
INC party is head bound to do as much damage to the party by maligning the image
of its CLP leader only to garner cheap popularity. His “open letter” is depiction
of more of his frustration, vested interest and ulterior political motives than of
his concerns for the State. It’s a well planned attempt to fish in the troubled waters.
If at all he is genuinely concerned for the State he should have approached the Chief
Minister, with clear intention of helping the Government as was done by other social
organizations and individuals instead of un-
The daily which published the said “Open Letter” of Takam Sorang is expected to act
in terms of media ethics by verifying the facts and allegations so made in order
to make a balance reporting to the public. However, the said letter was published
without giving a second thought and thereby misleading the public. The act per se
is biased with a design to malign the image of Chief Minister. As per press Council
of India’s Journalistic conduct Item no. 3 under the heading Caution against defamatory
writings it is clearly mentioned that “Newspaper should not publish anything which
is manifestly defamatory or libellous against any individual/ organisation unless
after due care and verification, there is sufficient reason/evidence to believe that
it is true and its publication will be for public good”. Even if the reason goes
thereof that the News Paper has carried the view of any individual in letters to
the editor page, the Press Council of India says in Item No. 15 An editor who decides
to open his columns for letters on a controversial subject, is not obliged to publish
all the letters received in regard to that subject. He is entitled to select and
publish only some of them either in entirety or the gist thereof. However, in exercising
this discretion, he must make an honest endeavour to ensure that what is published
is not one-
The onus thus now lie with Takam Sorang and the daily which published his so called “open letter” to prove with evidences in the Court of Law the allegations of corruption by the Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu more particularly the alleged nexus of the Chief Minister with that of underground organization i.e. NSCN (IM) in the Defamation suit being filed against them in the Court of Law.

I would like to draw the attention of District Administration towards recent arrest of four drug peddlers. It is very proud moments for us as well as for the District Administration.
But I would like to focus on weakness of administration and on two non-
We can see many beggars around Akash Deep complex, Legi Complex, Takar Complex. Do these beggars have inner line passes?
This show how weak is our law and order system is.
It is no use blaming those persons who are in Arunachal without proper valid inner line passes, it is the District Administration who does not verify the applicant’s identity proof properly and allow them in, thus showing negligence at work.
I appeal as well as request the District Administrations to check on this matter because Arunachal Pradesh is a restricted place as well as for its tribal peoples' bright future.
